Today we took day trips. Mark visited the Zapata Peninsula and the notorious Bay of Pigs. I traveled to Trinidad (not the Caribbean island of the same name) with Raul Touzon and his right-hand woman, Andrea Thorpe. Raul was born in Cuba and it is hard to tell which is his biggest love – photography or the island. Andrea saw Raul’s work and told him she “wants to learn how to do that.” So, after working side-by-side for three years she now travels with him and runs his business.

Armed with the knowledge that a good picture is SMPL (subject, moment, place, light) and engaging the subject in photo is everything, I wandered around the town looking to capture my vision. The day was rainy but the people were bright.

There is only one cell phone company in Cuba and the lines are always long.
